I see you in heaven, seeing me working my ass off and yet still flirting with making mistakes. I hear your voice in the background, “he’s a chump, move on.” You said it so many times, I don’t even remember who we were talking about now. To you, they were all chumps. That’s cause you never let me down. You always supported me and had faith in my decision making abilities. You called me “the smart one,” and you were no doubt the funnier of us two. It’s incredible how even in death, 18 years later, you can make me … Continue reading Daniel, You’re My Best Friend
I made it! I made it! I made it! I did everything I was supposed to do for 30 days with the exception of writing 1 single blog post, which means that if I grade myself in a traditional style… *tabulates results* I am officially, as it has always been “Miss 97%”. You see, I went to a very competitive school for junior high, and at this school people were making themselves sick to get “the grade.” At this particular institution, a lot of people always strived for the 100% on everything. They would put in overtime and extra credit … Continue reading DAY 30: Miss 97%
When you experience mixed emotions it can be quite the wild ride. With this 30 Day Challenge coming to an end tomorrow, I thought I’d be ecstatic about it being over, but in reality, I don’t know how to feel. I’m fairly certain that the behaviours I adopted during these 30 days (minus the daily blogging) will continue once the challenge is over but I can’t be certain. Only time will tell. I have mixed emotions because for some reason skipping 1 day of blogging somehow has me down on myself. I made the active decision not to write that … Continue reading DAY 29: Mixed Emotions
The decisions we make, whatever the size, shape the outcomes of our lives. Sometimes inaction is the best action and that is why yesterday I did not post. I made an executive decision to skip the blog post for the day but maintain the other tenants of my 30 Day Challenge. With only 3 posts left (including this one), I would have to say that I have learned a lot, many things that were surprising to me. I made a split second decision to do this 30 Day Challenge because something clicked for me that day: I needed a change. … Continue reading DAY 28: Decisions
Welcome to 2021! Today is day one of another 365 day cycle of time. You can choose to spend any moment doing right by yourself or you can choose self-betrayal by not living authentically. I choose me. I needed 2021. Hopefully the world is ready to embrace the challenges we collectively face. Either way I will continue to put one step forward after the next going in the direction of my vision. Cheers to new beginnings and leaving what was no longer working behind. Happy new year y’all! – @ Continue reading DAY 26: Welcome 2021!
‘Twas the evening before 2021, and all throughout the world… ah fuck it, this shit is over!!!! 2020 was supposed to be a year of milestones for a lot of us, and it turned out to be a collective turning point for all of us. The famous “pivot” mantra had me thinking of athletics and dancing more than it did my lifestyle strategy. And if anything, I just got pushed deeper into my love for creative pursuits and passion for both human rights and mental health. 2020 was a year marked with struggle in different ways for all of us … Continue reading DAY 25: Happy New Year!
Whatever stage you are at right now in life, just know that there are ample lessons to be learned from it. Our world is ever-evolving, always changing and often full of signs directly spelling out these messages as clear as a “Stop” sign. The bright red commands your attention, and the four-lettered word instructs you as to how you should proceed. When you are lucky enough to hear a call from the universe, make sure to pay attention. Signs come in different volumes and with different levels of clarity. Treasure the moments where you hear with certainty, and open your … Continue reading DAY 24: Read The Signs
100 Unsung Prayers A poem by Arielle London Breathe in a holiday Breathe out a moment to sleep You relinquish thoughts You preach your wrongs You even rap in your dreams Tell me Why does it always start the same And end somewhere so deep Did you lose your way Along the space Or time continuum Where did it lead? Are you the one Without the sun Shining down On your pretty physique Perhaps you are Maybe you’re too far From where the UV rays can reach I miss the days He said my name Its something So small to … Continue reading DAY 23: 100 Unsung Prayers
Being an adult is learning that you can’t always do the thing that you want to do, but rather you should do the right thing. Whether that is the responsible thing, the productive thing, or the moral thing, as you grow so does your relationship with doing what is right. When you’re a child you can often rationalize that “you don’t know any better” and so your choices are 50/50. But when you’re an adult, a seasoned human being on this planet living life by trial and error, you can’t plead ignorance, can you? Especially if you have been in … Continue reading DAY 22: Adulting
The thing about a challenge is that it is challenging. If you didn’t at some point want to quit, or want to cut corners around rules or cheat, then it wouldn’t even be a challenge in its nature. It would simply be a task. I set 3 main attainable goals for my 30 day challenge, and so far I have succeeded every single day, but not without a cost. For instance, one of my goals is to wake up by a certain hour every day (or earlier) and I have done that… which has been great! However, I find myself … Continue reading DAY 21: Oh Ya, It’s A “Challenge”
